Albion Rovers Committee

Terrence Wilkins

Chairman

Commonly known as Wacka, I joined Albion Rovers in 1975. I played 494 games and scored 79 goals for which I held the position as Captain. My last competitive game was on 11th April 1999, we played against Milford Haven in the The Welsh League, unfortunately we lost 3-1 but I scored the only goal for Albion Rovers.

I managed the first team during 3 different campaigns and also player managed Wales and Albion Veterans. We won every game culminating in 2013 playing England at the Millennium Stadium (as it was known then) winning 4-1.

I became Chairman of Albion in 1988 and am probably the longest serving chairman in Wales.  During my tenure I have secured and built the Albion clubhouse, the 3G pitch, built the stand and dugouts and extended the changing rooms. Since my tenure Albion has had two Welsh league promotions, No. 15 league winners and have won 10 cups.

I was awarded the Newport Hero in 2012 for going the extra mile and supporting many charities and groups.  On and off the pitch I have been totally supported by my wife Sharon, who I have been married to for 44 years, we have 2 children and 3 grandchildren.

Mike Desmond

Treasurer

I joined Albion Rovers in 1980. Unfortunately, after only playing 9 games I suffered a bad ankle injury which never properly healed and so I had to give up playing football. However, I already had the Albion bug at that stage and stayed a club member even until this day, over 43 years later. I have watched many Albion football games over the years, so many so, I lost count years ago. At one stage we had 4 senior sides. I continue to watch Albion games at senior level and our youth teams, I will watch whoever I can and proudly support from the side lines.

I became the Club Treasurer in 1991 and have remained in this role ever since and continue to be actively involved in taking the club forward.

I am supported by my wife Sharon who I have been married to for 38 years and we have 2 daughters.

Club Secretary

I joined Albion in 2021 because I am a huge advocate of engaging children in positive activities and so took it upon myself to support the Mini’s section when my youngest son joined at U6’s. However, over the last couple of years my role has expanded and I now provide secretarial support to the whole of the club.

I have never played football for a team in my life and although football has taken over my life, my son’s think its funny I still don’t understand the off side rule! But like I remind them I do all the paperwork so they can play football. I also apply for grants to help develop us as a club because ultimately the Mini’s are the future of the club and after the impact of COVID-19, getting the kids back to normality, having fun, getting fit and healthy and being in a social environment is so important. I am a bit of a whirlwind and will take on any challenge and joining Albion is like an extension of our family.

I am supported by my husband Craig who I have been married to for 15 years, we have two children Dewi aged 13 and Elis aged 10, both of our boys play football for Albion and it is where most of their friends play.
